During a recent segment on MSNBC’s ‘Hardball’ with Chris Matthews, the host argued that his guest needs to do whatever it takes to get President Trump impeached. “Here’s some advice… You’ve got to say something that leads to impeachment. Anything. That’s the business we’re in,” said Matthews to Adam Schiff’s deputy communications director.
During the same day, Matthews accused Trump supporters of hallucinating. “Here’s a President who uses words like spy and Spygate and people out there in the talk shows, I just know they’re eating it up,” said Matthews.
“They’re eating it up the columnists on the right. They’re buying into a total hallucination and that scares me. What are we going to do in our democracy as we move forward to prevent presidents from not — from creating something out of nothing just for their political survival?” he said.
“His personal assaults on a former FBI director and his raging nonsense about a spy ring are fresh proof of his readiness to destroy any faith in government integrity in order to save some reasonable doubt among some about his own integrity. And now he reverts again to the division that haunted this country since its origins: race, racism and the lingering cause of white supremacy. Yes, white supremacy,” said Matthews in another segment.
“Telling the football players we watch on Sunday to behave as they are told is something we expect of apartheid regime, not a democratic one,” said Matthews.
